Visitor Information
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia, Missouri
is a welcoming congregation. Whatever the faiths you have known, or the
flags of your heritage, you are welcome here. Whoever you are, and whomever
you love, you are welcome here. And, whether you arrived by a short or a
long route, you are welcome here.
For a compact overview of our church, see our
Church Handbook (PDF).
We heartily welcome all visitors. You will find us at 2615
Shepard Boulevard, directly across the street from Shepard Boulevard
Elementary School.

Visitors should plan to dress casually and comfortably.
We are an active church with an informal style. Our
church is centrally heated and cooled. More about
our facilities.
When you arrive, you will find a church where no
revealed truths are promoted and no scripture or human being is accepted as
infallible. This is a place for searching for truth. But we are believers.
We believe in intellectual freedom; we believe in justice; we believe in the
inherent worth and dignity of every person; we believe in compassion and
concern for each other and the whole world. We believe in commitment to
those ideals which make us caring and active in the struggles for human
dignity.
We conduct a worship service year-round at 10:30 a.m.
every Sunday. Also, our Forum Adult Discussion Group and our
Spirituality
Adult Discussion Group meet at 9:00 a.m. every Sunday year-round.
From
September through May, we also offer children's religious education classes at 10:30
a.m. During those months we have one lay-led service
per month, and our minister is in the pulpit on the other Sundays. Also, we
have a potluck lunch after the worship service on the first Sunday of each
month, to which visitors are cordially invited whether or not they have
brought food.
From June through August all worship services are lay led.
When visitors arrive, we invite them to sign the Guest
Book in the Greeting Area adjacent to our Sanctuary. Signing the Guest Book
will ensure that visitors are added to our Newsletter mailing list. Also, a
name tag can be prepared for visitors, which they will find on the name tag
wall rack the next week. We ask that name tags be returned to the basket in
the Greeting Area before leaving the church.
We invite all visitors to join us after the worship
service for coffee and conversation in the Greeting Area. See photo below.
For more information about what visitors can expect, see
the topic "What Visitors Can Expect" on the Worship
page.
Visitors should feel free to ask questions of any member
about who/why/where/how things are, or they can call the Church
Administrator, Kathie Bergman, at 573-442-5764, or send her an email.
Visitors interested in becoming members of our church can
find information about the process on the How to Join
page.
