Children's Service Sunday

March 4, 2012: The children decorated cakes
for dessert at the church's monthly potluck luncheon.

We know that doing things for others makes you feel really, really good. So, on the first Sunday of each month while the adults are in the worship service, our children in the religious education program are participating in a Service Sunday.

Under the direction of helpful adults, the kids of the church act on their belief in our UU seven principles.

Examples of past projects include:

  • Crafting blankets for Project Linus

  • Gathering and wrapping gifts for our church's Voluntary Action Center Christmas family

  • Participating in book and toy drives

  • Making cat toys for lonely pets at the Humane Society

Through these monthly projects the children of our church are leaning that they can help to make the lives of others better, and while doing so, can make their own lives better as well.

September 4, 2011: The children organized
packaged food for Festival of Sharing food packs.

October 2, 2011: The Service Sunday
project was making UNICEF posters.

An earlier Service Sunday project, pictured here, involved cleaning toys to donote to Goodwill.
