Church Governance
Our church, like other Unitarian Universalist Churches, is
governed under the "congregational polity" model, meaning our members make
all ultimate decisions including adoption of church bylaws, election of the
Board of Trustees, adoption of a church budget, and call of ministers.

The Congregational Annual Meeting is held in May each year
to hear reports from the Board of Trustees President, the minister and staff
members, review the past year's financial report, elect new members to the
Board of Trustees, and adopt the budget for
the next fiscal year starting July 1.
At the Congregational Annual Meeting on May 6, 2012, the
2012-13 church budget was approved and five board members were elected:
Qhyrrae Michaelieu (incumbent), Linda Osborne, Mary Beth Schillinger, Steve
Scott and Gregg Suhler.

In 2010-11, the Board of Trustees created a Governance
Task Force to review and recommend changes to the church's organizational
structure. In the past, a Leadership Council reporting to the board
supervised many church committees and activities, and certain staff members
reported directly to the board. The new structure being put in place,
depicted below, assigns a policy-making and resource-providing role to the
board and designates the minister as the supervisor for staff members and
volunteers.
