Creative UUs
At their session on February 11, 2012, Creative UUs made Valentine's
cards for use by our church's Caring Ministry. Shown from left are
Melissa Bedford, Mary Denson and Qhyrrae Michaelieu.
The purpose of Creative UUs is to
explore creatively while discovering more about each other. The group
started in September 2011 with a collage-making session (collage
photos). In October the group created art dolls. In November the group
made holiday ornaments using polymer clay, beads, and paintable glass
ornaments. In December the group created snowflakes to decorate our
church under the guidance of art teacher extraordinaire
Carol Arnold (photos).
In February the group used heart-shaped paper punches and
lots of red, pink, and white to show some of our fellow Columbia UUs some
love for Valentine’s Day. Thank you to Marianne Erickson from our Caring
Ministry for organizing the list of recipients and the distribution of the
Valentines.
In March, Creative UUs made almost 100 buttons for the
YRUUs to sell to raise funds for their summer trip to General Assembly in
Phoenix. Thank you to Lisa Fritsche for providing the button-maker and
supplies.
In April, the group tried its hand at egg design, turning
eggs into various creatures. In May the project was making colorful bead
jewelry from paper and cloth.

who can cut and glue. We meet monthly on the first or second Saturday from
1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Centering Room downstairs. Upcoming dates are
listed in the
Church Calendar and on the Events page.
Materials and light snacks are
provided. Donations to help cover the costs of materials and hospitality
will be gratefully received.
Please let us know if you have ideas
and/or materials for future gatherings.
