Board of Trustees

Under our church bylaws, a nine-member Board of Trustees is the governing body of the church. New board members are elected at the Congregational Annual Meeting in May each year and serve two-year terms (except that the immediate past president of the board serves a third year).

As noted on the Church Governance page, a reorganization of the church's organizational structure assigns to the board the primary responsibilities for making policies, articulating the church's vision and mission, providing resources, and evaluating programs, while responsibility for supervising staff members and volunteers is assigned to the minister.

The board meets at church on the second Thursday of each month in the evening. All board and committee meetings, except meetings of the Committee on Ministry and the Personnel Committee, are open to all friends and members.

The board has designated four officers to constitute an Executive Committee, which may exercise the board's authority to the extent provided by board resolution. The officers serving on the Executive Committee are the President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer. The current President chairs the Executive Committee. Also participating in the Executive Committee's deliberations are the Minister and Church Administrator.

We welcome the participation of our members in the ministry of our church through any of our committees and as board members. Members interested in participating should contact the Minister or Church Administrator.

2011-2012 members of the Board of Trustees are:

• President: Stephanie Dorman – email. Stephanie has been volunteering at the church since 2002. She is an educator in temporary retirement to unschool her children.

• Past President: Gregory Brown – email. This year marks Gregory's fourth year of service on the Board. He is immediate Past President and serves as the Board representative on the Ministerial Search Negotiating Team. He is employed as a project manager.

• President-Elect: Maria Oropallo – email. Coming to us from New England via Manassas, Virginia, Maria joined our church in 2009. She chairs our Public Relations Committee. She is a consultant for non-profits working on behalf of low-income seniors and people with disabilities.

• Secretary: Rosie Anderson-Harper – email. Rosie has attended our church since her childhood. She recently served on the Interim Minister Task Force that brought us Rev. Spencer. Rosie works for the Missouri Department of Mental Health.

• Treasurer: Corinne Mann – email. Corinne is one of our Local Harvest Supper coordinators. She joined the church in 2006. Corinne is employed as researcher at MU.

• Mehdi Farhangi – email. Mehdi is a retired oncologist who originally hails from Persia (Iran). He pens his childhood stories with our UU Life Writers’ Group. He has been a UUCC member since 1975.

• Paul Litton – email. Paul joins us after living in various places on the East Coast. He is an associate professor of law at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Paul has enjoyed helping out in RE classes when he can. He and his wife, Leanne Reese, have three children and signed our membership book in 2007.

• Qhyrrae Michaelieu – email. Qhyrrae has been a church member since 2000. She coordinates the Sunday morning Exploring Spirituality group. Qhyrrae works as a reference librarian at the Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson City.

• Marty Patton – email. Marty is an associate professor of English specializing in teaching English to scientists and engineers at MU. She traveled with our church’s June 2011 service trip to Honduras. Marty has attended UUCC since 2003.
