Sunday, 18 May, 7:00pm show  WIL MARING & ROBERT BOWLIN (www.wilmaring.com) Wil is a real meadowlark with a guitar.  After playing for 10 years with the bluegrass outfit ‘Shady Mix’ out of southern Illinois (and for a while based in Germany), Wil is re-creating her musical career with the able assistance of Nashville studio and utility player Robert Bowlin and a truckload of solid songwriting.  Wil & Robert are scheduled to perform as part of the Lupus General Store series this Sunday (4/13) so if you see them there, you’ll know why you need to see them again next month!  And if you don’t make it to Lupus, don’t miss this show.

The May Green Friday movie will be “The 11^th Hour”

Friday May 2nd at 7pm at the UU Church

“The 11th Hour” describes a critical time in the Earth’s evolution, the last moment we as a species can theoretically make a difference. Through social, economic and political lenses, the film presents a harrowing account of the planet’s current condition, an exploration of the causes and, finally, a look at what can be done in the near future to heal the damage.

Green Friday is the first Friday of each month. The Green Sanctuary invites everyone to attend this free event and enjoy open conversation about it afterwards.

First Friends will be holding it’s monthly get-together on Sunday, April 27th from 4 P.M. until 5 P.M.  Anyone who is looking for a friend to help introduce them to all our UU Church has to offer or to be a friend to a newcomer, come join us in the church foyer for some snacks and drinks.  Anyone who has been involved in First Friends in the past as a newcomer or friend can come and party too. If you have questions or need more information call Barbara Carter at 696 1784 or Rexanna Ipock-Brown at 290 7265 or stop by the visitors’ table.

Visitors- We welcome you! We invite you to join the “UU Visitors Orientation” which is scheduled in the minister’s office immediately following the worship service on second Sundays. Rev. Haney promises to answer your questions and give a general overview of church life.

The monthly fair trade, organic coffee, tea and chocolate sale will be Sunday, May 4. Your support has allowed us to serve fair trade, organic coffee and offer fair trade, organic tea at our coffee hour for the past three years, as well as helped with the Coming of Age activities for our YUUTs. Thank you! The last sale of the year will be the first Sunday in May, so you might want to stock up!

Meditation in Nature

Conversations, Etc., the UU Women’s Group, will meet monthly on the second Wednesday, at noon at the church. Bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages will be provided. A presentation will follow lunch. Call the church if you have questions.

SHOW ME LAUGHTER!

The SHOW ME LAUGHTER CLUB meets every Thursday, from 7-8pm. Attendance is FREE and open to the public. All are welcome! We do playful laughter exercises that help people in a group turn simulated laughter into hearty free-flowing and rejuvenating laughter! The UUCC Men’s Group meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 8 o’clock a.m. In the Piccadilly Restaurant at the Holiday Inn Select. The group is open to all men. There are no fees and no reservations are necessary. The agenda is an open discussion of whatever is on the minds of those in attendance – and breakfast!
